Microsoft adds five big gaming studios to its family, including Playground Games

The news was announced at Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference, in which the company was showcasing a number of its E3 2018 games.

GameStop has the Xbox One X listed as $349.99, while Fry's comes in at $349, showing some of the steepest discounts the Xbox One X has had since its launch.

Forza Horizon developer Playground Games has also been bought up by Microsoft Studios, as has We Happy Few creator Compulsion Games.

Spencer also confirmed that the company is working on new iterations of the Xbox console but this shouldn't come as a big surprise.

The new studios will all be housed beneath the Microsoft Studios brand alongside a new venture called The Initiative led by former Crystal Dynamics head of studio Darrell Gallagher.

Undead Labs has been taken over by Microsoft as well, following the recent success of State of Decay 2.
