'Generation Zero' Announced, An '80s Themed Shooter From Just Cause Devs

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios is branching off to create its own self-published game, Generation Zero, an open-world shooter that has up to four players working together to fight killer robots in an "explosive game of cat and mouse". This is just the latest in a series of announcements surrounding Avalanche, the most recent being that it has been acquired by one of the world's oldest film companies and that it is now co-developing Rage 2 alongside id Software.

In the year 1989, machines have taken over and players will get to explore a huge open-world.

1-4 Players. Seamless Multiplayer. Generation Zero is built by a small but experienced "triple indie" team with a lot of creative freedom and marks an exciting new chapter for Avalanche Studios as a publisher. Avalanche says guerrilla tactics are your best friend in waging war against the machines, allowing you to "lure, cripple, or destroy" enemies in action-packed sandbox skirmishes.

It will feature unpredictable weather, complex AI behavior, simulated ballistics, and a day/night cycle. While you can go it alone if you want, Generation Zero sounds best when you're fighting back with up to three mates at your side. Avalanche hasn't delved too far into specific gameplay details, but it has confirmed that Generation Zero will be coming to PC sometime in 2019 (no word on any console ports yet). Collaborate and combine your unique skills to take down enemies, support downed friends by reviving them, and share the loot after an enemy is defeated. Enemies will be persistently simulated throughout the world, so you'll find them roaming across the landscape at all times. Are you interested in Generation Zero?
