French move confirmed: Paddy Jackson will play with Perpignan next season

Former Ulster and Ireland fly-half Paddy Jackson has joined Perpignan on a two-year deal.

Jackson's former team-mate Stuart Olding, 25, who was also cleared of rape in the nine-week trial, joined French team Brive last month.

"He is a skilled kicker and Paddy will bring to the team, his global experience".

Now the 26-year-old will resume his playing career at Perpignan, who gained promotion to the Top 14 for the 2018/19 season, with the club's Sporting Director, Christian Lanta, hailing the qualities Jackson will bring to the side.

The player's Ulster and Ireland contract was terminated despite he and Olding being unanimously acquitted of raping the same woman in June 2016.

"Paddy Jackson, in the tradition of the Irish fly-half knows how to put his individual skills at the service of the team", a club spokesperson said.

The move will see the former Ulster and Ireland global fly-half play in the Top 14 next season.

An internal review into the players misconduct found that although they were found not guilty, their actions did not adhere to the game's core values: "Respect, inclusivity and integrity".
