The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Follow-Up Gets Intense First Trailer

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's US -bred sequel has been in the works for over seven years, long after the first film's lukewarm box-office success, which was a surprise, considering that almost every avid USA reader inhaled Steig Larsson's Millenium trilogy.

The first trailer was kept intentionally mysterious, director and co-writer Fede Alvarez told EW, because people are always complaining when the trailer gives away the whole movie.

Instead of adapting the second book in Stieg Larsson's book series about the vengeful hacker, Álvarez's film skips to book four, originally penned by David Lagercrantz in 2015 (Larsson died in 2004).

The first trailer, released today (June 7) via ConmingSoon.net, is absolutely astonishing. What about Foy as Lisbeth Salander? The English actress pulls off what is to our ears a pretty convincing Swedish accent.

The film is set to hit theaters on November 9. Also in the cast are Sylvia Hoeks, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund, and Vicky Krieps. The brutal opening scene will definitely get your attention.

The film is be directed by Fede Alvarez (Don't Breathe) from a screenplay by Steven Knight, Fede Alvarez and Jay Basu.

Joining Foy in the film are Sverrir Gudnason as Mikael Blomkvist, Lakeith Stanfield as Ed Needham, and Stephen Merchant as Frans Balder. There was also a successful Swedish adaptation of Larsson's trilogy, starring Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) as Salander.
