Father of Irish champion Katie Taylor shot at boxing club

The attack took place just before 7am this morning when a gunman entered the premises and fired a number of shots.

Gardaí can confirm that a 30-year-old man has died following a shooting incident.


Three men have been shot at a boxing club in Ireland.

His body remains at the scene pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and a technical examination of the area is being carried out by Garda Crime Scene Examiners.

The public have been asked for information about the movements of a gunman who killed one man and injured two others in a shooting at Bray Boxing Club yesterday morning. Pat Ward, an Irish police superintendent, confirmed that the injuries suffered by the two survivors are not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. IST on Tuesday at the Bray Boxing Club in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, Katie Taylor's hometown.

Gardai have renewed their appeal for information on the Silver Volkswagen Caddy with Northern Irish registered plates which was used in the shooting.

The club was where Taylor - Ireland's Olympic, European and World champion - began her career, before going on to win gold at London 2012.

Bray Boxing Club in The Harbour, Bray, Co.

He founded the gym, which is home to Katie, as well as Olympian Adam Nolan, whom he also trained.

They are appealing to anyone who witnessed the movements of the van along the route travelled between 7-8am yesterday morning to contact them.
